The Drakensberg had a very wet summer and most of the rock climbs remainded out of condition. Since late March the weather has improved and the rock dried out. During April these conditions have remained the same and there has been some wonderful weather thoughout the entire range. One can expect May and June to be good also.
The following routes are in good and dry condition:
All routes on Sentinel Peak are dry.
Devil’s Tooth
Ifid Pinnicles
Icidi Pinnicle
Mponjwana will still be wet on the lower pitches untill mid May.
Bell is dry, but some wet patches on Hooper’s Route .
Pyramid is dry
Column expect wet areas on the Escarpemnet Arete and Thompson’s Route.
Cathkin’s South Gullly is still wet.
Monk’s Cowl Std and Barry’s Route will be wet in places till end of May.
Injasuti Western Triplet NW ridge dry.
Schole’s Route Giants Castle expect to be wet till mid may.
Rhino Peak “S ” Route may be wet on the lower scramble sections.
