Gavin and Colin McCoy took part in the rescue of two Gauteng based hikers on the public holiday Monday, 10 August 2009.

The hikers had got stuck in a snow gully in the Cathedral Peak Area. They phoned in for help late on Sunday afternoon as they were unable to go down the gully due to cliffs and unable to get back through the snow and ice above them.

An Oryx helicopter from 15 Squadron commanded my Major Denby Ridler was used and the two were soon back at Didima Camp.
