OLD BALDY- GRANITE FAITH & FRICTION CLIMBING

Multi-pitch
Overall feel– on-balance, granite friction climbing

Easy access. These are 4-6 pitch routes, which meander up a huge dome of granite. Located in rural traditional Zulu country. Nearest airport– Durban or Pietermaritzburg

Best for climbers who can already climb in the moderate grades. Has a big feel about the place. Peak High has a policy that clients will belay the guide only with auto-locking or assisted breaking type devices. (e.g. GriGri or ATC Pilot) We provide these if clients do not already have them.

THE CANYON OF DREAMS

Sport and trad climbing
Single and multi-pitch
Near to Durban
Overall feel– a premier venue in South Africa. Easy to moderate climbing.

Very easy access. Camp or wooden huts next to the river beach. Braai (BBQs) at night, climbing during the day, African sunsets over thorn trees.

Great place from absolute beginners to experienced. Peak High has a policy that clients will belay the guide only with auto-locking or assisted breaking type devices. (e.g. GriGri or ATC Pilot) We provide these if clients do not already have them.

UMGENI VALLEY- PREMIER SPORT VENUE

HOWICK, KZN MIDLANDS
Sport climbing (bolted climbs)
Single pitch
Overall feel– mainly steep face climbing.
One of SA’s premier sport crags. A climbing venue inside a small game reserve. You will see zebras, giraffe and wildebeests. Very easy access. There are lots of routes in the grade 17-22 range. A few very high quality Trad routes exit.
There are 2 abseil (rappelling) training sites used for running courses. Chalets are available for hire. Nearest airport – Durban or Pietermaritzburg
