NORTHERN DRAKENSBERG, SOUTH AFRICA
A 4 pitch route
Trad (natural protection)
Grade F1 or 14 (4b HVS 5.6)
Summit of peak 2914m
Over all feel – technically easy climbing on a narrow ridge to a small summit.
The Standard route up the north east ridge. This is a huge rock peak in a remote area. The summit day has lots of steep grass scrambling and requires a high level of fitness. There are 3 bolted abseil points to get off the peak.
You need to be fit and able carry a large rucksack to base camp, 4 hours. Porters are available. You must be able to belay properly with double ropes and abseil without a safety rope. Prior rock climbing experience is essential. Peak High has a policy that clients will belay the guide only with auto-locking or assisted breaking type devices. (e.g. GriGri or ATC Pilot) We provide these if clients do not already have them. We guide this peak any time of the year.
